Contest #252 answer: Colditz Castle, Colditz, Germany

Colditz Castle is well known by its role in WWII as POW camp ‘Oflag IV-C’ for allied officers.

There were numerous escape attempts, both successful and unsuccessful.
The most daring of them must have been the Colditz Glider, which was never used however, because the war ended before the Glider was ready to fly.

Contest #251 answer: Elvas, Portugal

It is the time of year when UNESCO announces the new inscribings on the World Heritage List.
Among them this year is the Garrison Border Town of Elvas and its Fortifications

It is a fortified city, dating back to the 10th century and with Dutch style fortifications from the 17th century.
As a matter of fact, according to the UNESCO these fortifications represent the best surviving example of the Dutch school of fortifications anywhere.

Contest #250 answer: Bugatti factory, Dorlisheim/Molsheim, France

Ettore Bugatti started his car manufacturing plant in 1909 in Molsheim.

Famous by its type 35 race car, Bugatti dominated the Grand Prix circuits in the 1930’s.

Nowadays the Bugatti car marque is owned by Volkswagen and in the Molsheim factory the landing gear of the Airbus is made by the Messier-Bugatti-Dowty company, a subsidiary of the Safran group.
