Colditz Castle is well known by its role in WWII as POW camp ‘Oflag IV-C’ for allied officers.
There were numerous escape attempts, both successful and unsuccessful.
The most daring of them must have been the Colditz Glider, which was never used however, because the war ended before the Glider was ready to fly.
