Now it is red all over the place.
Alumina plant in Hungary. The red sludge is a byproduct of refining bauxite into alumina, which is used in the manufacture of aluminum and other products. The retaining wall at the top left corner of the “red” basin has been recently breached, and a major environmental disaster occured : the red sludge was poured from the basin to the NW, killing inhabitants of the nearby town, & threatening the Danube river.
