Contest #775 – Al-Shahaniya Camel Racetrack, Qatar

About an hour outside Doha, Al-Shahaniya is one of the premier camel racing venues in the world. Seeing a race here is an interesting event — there are no grandstands. If you want to watch a race, you’ll need to follow along in your car (SUV or pickup actually, the police won’t let you chase the race in anything smaller). You’ll need to have a heavy foot on the accelerator though, as the top speed for these guys is around 40 MPH with very fast acceleration to that point.

Those who found this spot in the previously unvisited Qatar were:

  • Martin de Bock
  • Paul Voestermans
  • Eloy Cano
  • Lighthouse
  • John-john Ken
  • Graham Hedley
  • Phil Ower
  • Jesus Rodriguez
  • Garfield

And after the hint:

  • David Kozina

Contest 774 – Basotho Hat Shop, Maseru, Lesotho

So, I’m walking around in Maseru looking for a hat like the one that the Basotho people wear, you know, one of these:

Any idea where I can get one? Maybe this building that looks exactly like one of those hats?

Those who found it before the hint and are probably wearing one of those hats right now:

  • Paul Voestermans
  • Lighthouse
  • Garfield
  • Eloy Cano
  • hhgygy
  • Martin de Bock
  • John-john Ken
  • Graham Hedley
  • Phil Ower

And after the late hint (sorry about that):

  • Andy McConnell

Contest 773 – Bonhomme de Bouraille, New Caldonia

This wind and wave formed rock formation sits precariously on a beach in New Caledonia, a new country for this contest.

The local Orôê and Neku people believe it sits over a gathering place where the dead dance and celebrate for important events like the birth of a descendant.

Those who danced before the hint:

  • Eloy Cano
  • Lighthouse
  • Phil Ower
  • John-john Ken
  • Paul Voestermans
  • Martin de Bock
  • Bas van Limpt

And after the hint:
