Where else do you find a plane covered in flowers?!

The Dubai Miracle Garden is a flower garden located in the district of Dubailand, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The garden was launched on Valentine’s Day in 2013. The garden occupies over 72,000 square metres, making it the world’s largest natural flower garden featuring over 50 million flowers and 250 million plants. It’s not open from May to November because of the heat and when it is open uses about 750,000 litres of water a day. Not a small amount for a desert location.

An easier one this week, based on the number of correct responses – the BC Ferries terminal at the north end of Vancouver Island / south end of the ferry route to Prince Rupert.

Once a day, a ferry leaves heading north through the Inside Channel to places like Bella Bella, Klemtu and eventually Prince Rupert.

This week, we went north to Alaska and to be more specific, the DHL ramp at the Anchorage International Airport.

The pattern of the 6 planes spots was intriguing and the Flying Boxcar on the right side was left in as an additional aid to help find the location.

The hint referred to the fact that DHL is German-owned and therefore not restricted by US law from flying into North Korea.

Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park is a national park located in Melaky Region, northwest Madagascar.

The Tsingys are karstic plateaus in which groundwater has undercut the elevated uplands, and has gouged caverns and fissures into the limestone. Because of local conditions, the erosion is patterned vertically as well as horizontally. In several regions on western Madagascar, centering on this National Park and adjacent Nature Reserve, the superposition of vertical and horizontal erosion patterns has created dramatic “forests” of limestone needles.

The word tsingy is indigenous to the Malagasy language as a description of the karst badlands of Madagascar. The word can be translated into English as “where one cannot walk barefoot” or “walking on the tip of the feet” as in the hint.

When Caleb Smith was 10 years old, he was looking at Craigslist and found in excess of 350 bunnies for sale. Appalled about the cycle of impulse buying and abandonment of these creatures, he decided to do something about it.

4 years later, in 2018, he negotiated and purchased an island in the Mississippi River and created a sanctuary there.

“My vision for Peacebunny Island started several years ago when an endangered American Blue rabbit named Paxton Peacebunny decided to adopt me … I told Pax that I knew it would take a bunch of dreamers with a pure heart to create such a special place. And it took some work, but I found them.” (from one of the island’s website)

Caleb has another website, the one for the non-profit he founded, STEM Bunnies. In this he discusses the aims of the foundation, which include “Hands-on, Minds-on learning”.

Built in 1992, the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso has had a history of spilling over. This affects downstream areas in Burkina Faso and northern Ghana.

Money has been set aside by the Ghanaian government to build other dams downstream to capture the near-annual spillage that floods agricultural land and houses, but no dams have been built yet.

As mentioned in the hint, La Perla is the tallest Ferris Wheel (or “Observation Wheel)” on the continent of South America. It is located on Malecón 2000, an entertainment district that Guyaquil has invested a considerable sum on in the hopes of attracting more tourism to the area.
