Contest #473: the Smart Car test track and factory

Back in 1994, Daimler-Benz and the watch maker Swatch built this Smart Car factory complex in Hambach, France. It opened in 1998 and have built the majority of Smart cars in existence.

It takes about 4.5 hours to assemble a Smart car in the Hambach factory that is set up in such a way that parts are delivered just when needed. Most suppliers are located close by.

Contest #469: Segoothooth Butte in the middle of nowhere, northwest British Columbia, Canada

Contest #469 was an attempt to break up the logjam on top and it seems to have allowed one player, Phil Ower, to take a one point lead going into the final contest.

It was chosen when I came across the Google Earth artifact that at some zoom levels has a greyed out spot over what looks like a pool of neon green. As far as I can tell, there is no secret toxic dump, neon green mine or the like at this location.

If anyone can tell me why this artifact appears, I would greatly appreciate it.

Panoramio has no pictures from near this spot, but I did find this account of a trek from Telegraph Creek to Atlin: http://riverswithoutborders.org/blog/2014/06/a-long-walk-in-the-taku

Only one player found the location without the hint:

  • Phil Ower

While a few were aided by Nellie Cashman:

  • hhgygy
  • Eloy Cano
  • Ben S
  • George, Esq.
  • Glenmorren
  • Marisa Boraas
  • Garfield

Contest #469 Hint

The woman known as the Frontier Angel, the Saint of the Sourdoughs, the Miner’s Angel, the Angel of the Cassair and the Angel of Tombstone was in this here neck of the woods. But I’ll bet she didn’t see anything “greyed out”.
