Trunk Bay is the most visited beach in the Virgin Islands National National Park.
The beach has an underwater marked snorkel path, facilities for renting snorkel equipment, a snack stand, and a bar. The location is very popular with locals, island visitors, and cruise ship excursions from nearby Charlotte Amalie, the beach can become quite crowded sometimes.
Locals in the Virgin Islands refer to Leatherback Turtles as “Trunks”, and with the bay having many of such turtles, the name Trunk Bay stuck.
