The first lighthouse was commissioned in 1905 and completed in 1906 along with a four room keeper’s quarters. It was a 47 foot steel tower with a kerosene light that the keeper would have to refuel and light.
In 1917 a new lighthouse was built that used acetylene as fuel which could be kept at the base of the tower thus automating the lighthouse
