In August 2005 the Hurricane Katrina caused havoc in New Orleans and surroundings, flooding the Six Flags Park (the former Jazzland Park) and closing it down.
The insurance claims took a long time to settle and in the beginning of 2011 a new redevelopment plan was released by the current owners.
