Hart Island is the location of the largest potter’s field in the world.

About 900,000 bodies are buried here in mass graves and still about 1,500 a year are added.
In 1977 most of the burial records were destroyed in a fire

According to this article in the English newspapers, the island of Colonsay (Hebrides, Scotland) was out of water because of the Ice bucket challenge.

However this might well be a hoax, as there were some issues with the water supply earlier this year.

If there was some weird contest who has the longest place name on earth, this one had won hands down. It is longer than the places of contest #217 and contest #249 and -according to Wikipedia- it means ‘The summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his nose flute to his loved one’.

There are some longer versions around, but this one seems to be the official one.
