Pioneer Deep Space Station is part of the Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex, which belongs to the NASA Deep Space Network.
This Deep Space Networks main mission is to keep track of communications with unmanned deep space missions.
The Pioneer Antenna, featured in this contest was the first of its kind and dates from 1958. Since 1985 it is a National Historic Landmark.

The Tungurahua (‘throat of fire’) volcano is a large and active stratovolcano in Ecuador.
It has been intermitted active since August 1999, but the last few weeks it showed us some spectacular eruptions.

A brown coal mining pit since 1895 and in 1971 destined to be a landfill.
But since 1995 an UNESCO World Heritage site thanks to the rich abundance of fossils on this location.
The Messil Pit is now a geological site of scientific importance.
