Contest #309 answer: Völklinger Hütte Ironworks, Völklingen, Germany

There are quite a few industrial world heritage site on the UNESCO list, amongst whom is the former Ironworks complex in Völklingen: The Völklinger Hütte.

Voelklingen

Erected in 1881, the plant began producing in 1883 and stayed into production until 1986.
In 1994 it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list as this is the only intact example of an integrated ironworks from this period.

Recently I made a panorama-view of the entrance.

Contest #308 answer: Quiriguá archeological site, Guatemala

Quiriguá is a Mayan archeological site, which is not the most prominent of Mayan sites, but it has the largest Mayan stelae to be found anywhere.

There is archeological evidence it was inhabited at the end of the Preclassic Era

It was not easy this week. This is probably one of the most difficult UNESCO sites to be found on GE.
