Contest #368 answer: Diomede Islands, Bering Strait, Alaska/Siberia

On the left: Big Diomede Island belonging to Russia, on the right: Little Diomede Island belonging to the USA and the international date-line is in-between.

diomede

So it is not only a different continent, but also a different day in one picture.
The islands are nick-named “Tomorrow Island (Big Diomede) and “Yesterday Island” (Little Diomede) because of this.
Oddly enough the time-difference between the two is 21 hours (and not 23) due to the local time zones.

As you can imagine there is quite a lot of talking and thinking of connecting the continents here, by bridge or tunnel.

Time to move on… Looking for help

In a few weeks I will be running this contests for 5 years now. Time flies….

The past 5 years were fun to do this weekly contests, but my personal life has changed now. It becomes harder and harder to find the time (and suitable contests) to keep up the weekly schedule.

So, with regret, it is time for me to move on.
That means that I am looking for someone to run these contests.
If you are a follower, you know what it takes to do this.

I won’t quit today, but in a few weeks. So there will be plenty of time for a good handover without a break of the current weekly schedule

You can contact me by replying to this post. Your message won’t be published and I will respond by email.

Thanks,

Karel
