Alan Wilzig inherited hid fathers’ fortune and made it even bigger.
As he is an enthusiastic racing driver, het decided to build his own racetrack on his estate.

It was constructed in 2010 but caused some legal concern that lasted into 2011.

Contest #236 answer: The Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, Upton, New York, USA

As part of the Brookhaven National Laboratory, this Synchrotron is the only counterpart for the Large Hadron Collider, featured in contest #114.

It started its operation in 2000 and until the Large Hadron Collider came into action, it was the most powerfull collider in the world. It is currently conducting its twelfth run.

Contest #235 answer: Spaceport America, New Mexico

On October 17 2011, Spaceport America was officially opened by Virgin Galactic boss Richard Branson.
It is located in the the Jornada del Muerto desert basin in New Mexico and designed to host the first commercial space flights, which probably will take place later this year.

I was waiting for this location to show up in Google Earth, which finally happened with the March 21 imagery update.
