One of only two venues used on the opening day of the inaugural FIFA World Cup on 13 July 1930, Estadio Pocitos holds a unique place in football history. It was here that France’s Lucien Laurent scored the first goal ever recorded in a FIFA World Cup.
Despite its historic significance, the stadium did not stand the test of time. Home to Peñarol in its early years, Estadio Pocitos was eventually demolished as Montevideo expanded, with streets and residential buildings now occupying the site.
A stadium may disappear, but its place in football history remains permanent.
There is a street monument marking the place of the goal post by which the first WC goal occurred. It was made by local architect Eduardo di Mauro who was the winner of the sculpture competition called “In Search of the Lost Goal” which was held in 2006.

“Otherwise we cannot make sure that you really found the place.” Is this a joke?! Most of the time, WOGE players do not precise the exact subject of the WOGE puzzles. PLEASE #1 post correct captures (I mean big sizes, not 640×407 like WOGE 977, for God’s sake we are in the XXIst century). #2 post understandable clues, most of the time I have no clue to the clue even when I’ve discovered the place location. That’s not true, most players provide the right solution and/or coordinates. Check the answers to any of the puzzles.
Your answer will NOT be accepted if you only answer the city name. Check back your last two answers. If you don’t want to provide coordinates, you don’t need to, but your answer will NOT be accepted (unless, of course, you identify the place correctly)
1. There have already been complaints about the resolution of the OP image but it is a given in WordPress. Other players still find the place so it is no excuse for you.
2. As for the clues, it is always up for debate but it is very subjective and we have been trying to do our best.
If the puzzle is for city name then the puzzle photo will be zoomed out photo , in this case it’s a building photo so it’s obvious we want that particular building to be guessed. There are thousands of buildings in a city so this answer is very vague.
This post photo was extra cropped because on google earth it shows some extra hints that has to be cropped so that it cannot be recognized by AI easily.
AI is making our job really difficult, we have to skip some really deserving locations because they are instantly found by AI.
As far as hint is concerned, we are trying our best to give the best hint possible. If you guys want more straightforward and easy hints, we can try them in upcoming puzzles.
