This week’s location was submitted by LawnBoy and is one leg of the Gateway Arch in downtown St. Louis, Missouri in the USA.
It was constructed in the early to mid-1960’s following a design by Finnish architect Erto Saarinen and opened on June 10th 1967. Its location is the 1764 founding of St. Louis and was the idea of Luther Ely Smith.
The hint referred to the railway tunnel that had to be constructed in order to open up the area as railway tracks used to dominate this section of the west bank of the Mississippi River.
