The Crawford Lake Iroquois Village, located between Milton and Kitchener, Ontario to the west of Toronto was the choice of Phil Ower. It’s the recreation of a 15th Century village located on the same site and represents a typical Haudenosaunee or Six Nations community prior to development in southern Ontario. The longhouses seen were the main architectural feature where multiple families would live communally. Phil is an exhibit designer , working with Six Nations curators, elders and artists to tell their stories about the spiritual connection and physical relationship they feel with the land. There is currently a movement toward Truth and Reconciliation across Canada.
