Contest #338 answer: Église Saint-Étienne-le-Vieux, Caen, France
Originally the Église Saint-Étienne-le-Vieux dates from the 10th century and is an official French protected monument. It lies very close to the well known l’Abbaye-aux-Hommes.
In 1944 it was destroyed by bombing, either by the allies or the Germans, depending on the source you are reading. But anyhow it was never rebuilt.

Mr. Yoshikuni Kamichika visited The Netherlands in 1979 and was impressed by the Dutch water engineering skills. He was looking for a suitable development project for a location in the Omura bay and decided upon a Dutch Theme Park, named ‘Huis ten Bosch‘
To ensure that the buildings looked genuine, he imported the building bricks from The Netherlands

Contest #336 answer: Ivanpah Solar Power Facility, Mojave desert, CA, USA
The largest solar power plant in the world was constructed in the Mojave desert in California, USA.
It is the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility and it formally opened on February 13 this year.
In total it consist of three concentric circles of mirrors, focussed to beam up to three towers with steam turbines.
It should produce some 377 MW per annum.
