Contest 332 answer: Yungang grottoes, Datong, China
This is one of the lesser known UNESCO World Heritage sites, but it is nevertheless quite impressive.
The Yungang Grottoes are a complex of 252 grottoes with in total about 51,000 Buddha statues.
In 2001 it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
