Castel Gandolfo is the summer residence of the Pope and Pope Emeritus Benedict will stay here for a few months after his abdication.

 

Afterwards he will take quarters at the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in Vatican City

On september 15, 2007 a meteorite crashed into Peru, near the Bolivian border at a place called Carancas.

It left a 13 meter wide hole in the ground and caused illness to 600 villagers living nearby, possibly caused by sulphuric vapor from the explosion.
