Contest #171 answer: Uluru (Ayers Rock), Northern Territory, Australia

Well, what a great way to enter a new year: we beat our previous record of right answers.

This is one of the most famous natural landmarks in the world: Uluru, aka Ayers Rock in central Australia. It is a large sandstone formation towering 348 m above the surface.

It is the same formation as the nearby Kata Tjuta (aka the Olgas).
